What Does Preservation Involve?

Record Storage

Preservation techniques vary, depending upon the condition and quality of objects being preserved.  The majority of what we preserve comes in the form of documents and images.  Our records are kept in acid free folders, plastic sheaths, and acid-free boxes, which stabilizes and prevents rapid deterioration caused by finger prints, foreign bodies, harmful light, etc.  We keep these records in a climate controlled facility.

For more on preservation techniques, please see our list located under Archival Education.
